Nelly Korda's Olympic Medal Hopes Dwindling

NELLY KORDA on a golf field

Nelly Korda, the world's top-ranked golfer, had a strong start at the 2024 Paris Olympics, positioning herself within striking distance of a gold medal for the first three days of competition. However, her fortunes took a turn on the fourth day as she struggled on the course.

After completing 17 holes on Saturday, Korda found herself at 1-under par for the tournament but was sitting at +3 for the day. The turning point came at the 15th hole when she put a ball in the water, resulting in a triple bogey that dealt a significant blow to her medal hopes.

A triple bogey on the 15th hole dealt a blow to Korda's medal hopes.

This was not the first time Korda faced challenges on the course during the tournament. In the second round, she briefly held sole possession of second place before encountering difficulties on the last four holes. A quad bogey on the 16th hole followed by a bogey on the 17th hole dashed her hopes of maintaining a top position.

As the competition nears its conclusion, it appears increasingly unlikely that Korda will secure a medal in the women's Olympic Golf tournament. Barring a remarkable turnaround in her performance, the gold medal seems out of reach for the talented golfer.
