The Chevron Championship saw an exciting third round as Nelly Korda shot a 3-under 69 to position herself just one shot off the lead entering the final round of the year's first major. The tournament faced a weather delay, with play being suspended on Saturday due to lightning, leading to the completion of the third round early Sunday morning at Carlton Woods.
Korda, aiming to tie an LPGA Tour record with her fifth consecutive victory, had completed 11 holes before the suspension. She currently sits tied for second place with Brooke Henderson, both posting a three-round total of 206.
Henderson made a significant impact in the third round by shooting a remarkable 64, setting a scoring record for the tournament since its relocation from Mission Hills, California, to Texas last year. The Canadian golfer showcased an impressive one-putt streak of 10, including six birdies and an eagle during that stretch.
Leading the pack after 54 holes is Haeran Ryu of South Korea, who carded a bogey-free 67 with five birdies. Ryu holds a total score of 205 entering the final round.
Atthaya Thitikul, who was previously tied for the lead after two rounds, had a challenging third round, shooting a 72 to drop into a tie for fourth place with two other competitors. Thitikul, a 21-year-old from Thailand with two LPGA Tour wins, had missed the start of the season due to a thumb injury.
Jin Hee Im, who shared the lead with Thitikul after 36 holes, also struggled in the third round, posting a 72 to fall to fourth place with a total score of 208.
As the tournament heads into the final round, the competition remains fierce with top players vying for the prestigious Chevron Championship title.
