Neil Lennon sets sights on magnificent 7 in next managerial role

Neil Lennon insists he is going for a seventh title win as a manager as he starts his managerial career in Romania today with Rapid Bucharest.

The former Celtic and Hibs boss takes charge of Rapid for the first time this afternoon with an away game at UTA Arad.

And despite the club finishing a lowly sixth last season, Lennon is convinced he can add to the five Premiership titles he won as Hoops boss and the Championship title he won at Hibs.

He said: "It's hard to predict, but there will be around five or so teams that will be in the fight for the title.

"And I want Rapid to be among them.

"We have a young team, we must be consistent throughout the league. We have many young players that I am very proud of and in whom I have a lot of confidence.

"UTA have made a lot of changes from last season and so have we. I expect it to take around four or five weeks before we gel so it will take time.

"Any manager always needs new players. But with the players from last season, plus those who came now, we are satisfied, because we have two players in almost every position. We will probably try to bring in another one or two more players."

UTA boss Mircea Rednic - who has twice managed Rapid Bucharest and won 82 caps for his country - insisted the arrival of Lennon in Romania was a coup for the country.

He said: "Rapid have clearly made a big investment and have brought in a respected, experienced manager and that can only be good for the game here.

"We are looking forward to welcoming Neil Lennon, but we have a plan to win the game and disappoint him."
