A community have voiced their fears after waking up to find their local bus shelter 'completely destroyed' following an incident late at night. Neighbours on Carlton Hill have labelled the street "dangerous" after the incident which allegedly happened at around 12am overnight on Friday (June 17) into Saturday (June 18).
Shocked residents were stunned to discover remains of a car near the bus shelter just outside Tesco Superstore in Carlton on Saturday morning. They have exprsseed their sadness claiming that a dog was killed in the incident. Recovery work was underway on Monday, June 20.
Retired Peter Briggs, who lives in Carlton, added: "This area has been going downhill in the past years. You have got cars speeding on the main road and rubbish everywhere."

The 64-year-old said: "Nothing surprises me anymore. It is getting worse and worse."
Pam Walker, a retired resident on Carlton Hill, 71, added: "The fact that someone could have been there minding their own business and be killed is shocking. I thought it was a pretty good area. I hope it was just an one-off. It is just unfortunate."
Another neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, described the moment he heard a 'bang' in the middle of the night. He told Nottinghamshire Live: "I live just accross the road. I heard a loud bang. Next thing I know in the morning the shelter was destroyed. It was crushed up to bits."
Yvonne Smith said she was crushed to hear about the dog's death. The 80-year-old was waiting for the bus on Carlton Hill and added: "I came back home on Saturday and I was amazed. I cannot even remember that last time it happened on this road.
"I am just very upset to hear about the dog. It could have been worse - imagine if someone was there when it happened."
Ms Smith, who lived in Carlton all her life, added: "I care abut this area so it is very upsetting when things like this happen. This bus shelter is a busy one as well. It is dangerous. It is scary to think about it, especially since the majority of people living here are pensioners."
Another resident said he had tried to make contact with the dog's owner. He said he was "very saddened" by the news.
John Arnold, 78, living on Carlton Hill, added: "It all happend on Friday night. All we know is that we had a bus shelter on Friday and now it is all gone. It was completely destroyed."
Nottinghamshire Police has been approached for comment on the incident
