After 37 years many Neighbours fans were devastated when the soap was axed from Channel 5, however, it was not the end of the programme. Amazon has bought the whole Neighbours' back catalogue and is bringing the show back.

Posting to their social media Neighbours announced the new series will start filming on Monday, April 17. They said: "It's official, cameras will be rolling for a brand new Neighbours from the 17th April 2023! We can't wait to have #Neighbours back on your screens later this year."

Many fans commented their excitement to see the show returning. One said: "I'm so excited looking forward to more stories" and another said: "Brilliant news- Well done to everyone involved on a hugely successful tour too. Absolutely loved the show".
A third added: "I literally just finished watching the final episode and now I'm getting excited again!" followed by a heart eyes emoji. Filming for the show will take place in Australia, where the soap is set.
The show first aired in 1985 and followed the cul-de-sac community of Ramsay Street within the fictional Melbourne suburb of Erinsborough. The series will be shown exclusively on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US, and the channel will also show archive episodes.
Neighbours is expected to air in the summer or autumn of 2023. Lauren Anderson, head of AVOD original content and programming at Amazon Studios said: "Neighbours has captivated its audience for nearly 40 years, building a dedicated and loyal following for the lives and stories of the characters on Ramsay Street. With the power of streaming, we’re able to offer a catalogue of thousands of Neighbours episodes for new audiences to discover this legendary series and current fans to relive their favourite moments."
