Neighbours have been left frustrated by speeding drivers who are 'taking noise to a new level' on a £49m Nottinghamshire road. The 3.8km single carriageway Colliery Way links the A612 Trent Valley Road and Nottingham Road to Mapperley Plains and was opened earlier this year after decades of planning.
Drivers were previously stopped by police during speed checks on the A612 in Burton Joyce, not far from the junction of the route, previously called the Gedling Access Road. Locals have now spoken out against speeding drivers taking advantage of the long and recently opened road.
Tim Sills, 72, who lives on Osgood Road, next to Colliery Way, thought speeding drivers had 'taken noise on the road to a new level'. "It was busy before but the noise has been taken to a new level, crikey the people speeding make some noise," Mr Sills said.
