HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday caught everyone off-guard when he announced that the country needed an entirely new Constitution. Taking an aggressive stand against the Narendra Modi government, he said a new Constitution was the only way to stop the Centre from continuously usurping the powers of state governments in the name of the concurrent list.
"India requires to rewrite its Constitution. Let it be debated and discussed. Seventy-five valuable years have gone by after Independence but people's expectations are not being met," the CM said.
The remarks came as a reaction to the Union Budget 2022-23 which he termed as a bundle of lies, disappointing and a ‘golmaal budget' of no use to SCs, STs, BCs, minorities, farmers, working class, employees, weavers and the poorer sections of society. "The finance minister read out a sloka from Mahabharata preaching dharma but is actually meting out adharma and asatya,"he said.He asked the youth of the country to pluck BJP from its roots and throw it into the Bay of Bengal.
