CHANDIGARH: Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) leader and former finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa suggested that the maiden budget of the AAP government should be pro-people and should also focus on improving the financial condition of the state.
“The economic condition of Punjab has deteriorated drastically in the last few years. In addition to the economic downturn, the state’s debt deficit has reached an all-time high. Therefore, the Mann government should seriously work to improve the present deteriorating financial condition of the state,” he said.
Dhindsa added during the seven-day budget session, apart from allocating more funds to agriculture, special care should be taken for debt relief for landless and farm labourers, besides improving health and social sectors. He said a legislation should be introduced in the budget session for permanent employment of staff recruited on contract. tnn
