Nearly A Third of Republicans Believe Trump is Becoming 'Erratic' With Age, Poll Shows

A majority of Americans - including 30 percent of Republicans - believe President Trump is becoming "erratic" as he gets older.

Trump, who will turn 80 in June, was the oldest person ever inaugurated, beating the previous record held by President Biden.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll found that the President's age and behavior is a concern to the majority of Americans. A majority, 61 percent, would describe Trump as becoming "erratic with age." Even 30 percent of Republicans agreed with the statement.

Overall, the poll found that only 45 percent of respondents believe that Trump is "mentally sharp and able to deal with challenges." However, the breakdown on that question was more partisan with 81 percent of Republicans believing in the president's capabilities compared to only 19 percent of Democrats.

Another finding by the poll was that Americans, in general, think elected officials are too old. In fact, 79 percent of respondents said that "elected officials in Washington, D.C., are too old to represent most Americans."
