Nearly 8,000 bottles of a widely prescribed blood pressure medication have been pulled from the market under a Class II recall after the drug's manufacturer discovered that an incorrect expiration date was printed on the packaging. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration updated its enforcement reporting on July 17, 2026, with details on the recall, which was originally initiated on July 2, 2025, by Lupin Pharmaceuticals, Inc., based in Naples, Florida.
The recall covers 7,668 bottles of prescription Amlodipine and Benazepril HCl Capsules USP, 2.5 mg/10 mg, in 100-count bottles, lot number GB01616. The labeling error: the affected bottles show an expiration date of February 28, 2027, when the correct expiration date is January 2027, a one-month discrepancy that the FDA has classified as a potential source of harm if patients use medication they believe to be within its effective window when it has actually expired.
