Gaza's Civil Defense organization has reported that nearly 400 bodies have been recovered from around Al-Shifa hospital following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area last week. According to Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal, a total of 381 bodies have been retrieved from Al Shifa and its surrounding vicinity since the Israeli military pulled out.
Basal mentioned that the figure does not account for individuals who were buried within the hospital grounds. Efforts are ongoing to locate and recover these bodies, with Basal stating, 'We are still trying to recover the buried bodies at Al Shifa; [according to] information we have there are dozens of bodies under the dirt and sand inside Al Shifa and the vicinity and we started the process yesterday.'
In addition to the bodies found at Al Shifa, recovery workers have also managed to retrieve 77 bodies in Khan Younis, located in southern Gaza. This area had experienced intense fighting for several weeks until Israeli troops withdrew earlier this week.
