Neal Maupay transfer latest as update emerges on Nottingham Forest target

Brighton and Hove Albion boss Graham Potter has said Neal Maupay is not "desperate" to leave the club amid interest from Nottingham Forest.

The 26 year-old has been on the Reds' radar throughout the summer. Premier League rivals Fulham and Everton are also said to be keen on the striker.

Forest signed Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday and what impact that may have on a move for Maupay remains to be seen. Speaking in a press conference on Friday, Potter addressed the situation: "No update," he said.

"Things happened before the game last weekend so we took the decision not to involve him. He has trained all week with us so he will be in the squad."

Asked about whether he was on the lookout for a Maupay replacement, Potter added: "Not necessarily because there is a lot to happen. As I understand I don't think Neal is desperate to leave.

"We are certainly not kicking him out the door. From a personal perspective, I can probably count on one hand how many players that have helped me become a better coach, the same as Neal.

"What he has done for us over the last three years is clear. I don't think you can replace like for like because the attributes are unique, you've got to always look for something else that can help the squad.

"But we will do that anyway, regardless of any situation. We are always looking to see if there is something we can add to the group that will help the group, that will make us better. At the same time we are really happy with what we have."
