Neal Maupay in Everton squad to face Leeds United as striker looks to extend Whites record

Neal Maupay is set to feature in Everton's squad against Leeds United at Elland Road on Tuesday evening.

The 26-year-old became the Toffees' sixth summer signing when he completed his transfer from Brighton on Friday evening, but was unable to play in Everton's 1-1 draw at Brentford on Saturday.

The Frenchman has scored more goals against Leeds (four) than he has managed against any other club during his career. Maupay scored the only goal at Elland Road in 2020/21 and also scored three times against the Whites for Brentford in the Championship.

"Neal trained [on Saturday] at the training ground and we will all be in [on Sunday], so he'll be able to train with some players who didn't get lots of minutes against Brentford," Everton boss Frank Lampard revealed in his pre-match press conference.

"We'll see where he is but he'll be involved in the squad I'm pretty sure."

Maupay will go some way to filling the void left by Richarlison, who joined Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer, and the injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Chelsea's pursuit of Anthony Gordon has also intensified the Toffees' hunt for attacking reinforcements with Lampard expected to bring more players in before Thursday's transfer deadline.

Maupay joined Brighton from Brentford in the summer of 2019 after scoring 41 goals in 95 games during his two seasons with the Bees. The former France U21 international spent three years at the Amex - netting 27 goals in 109 outings.
