AGRA: The court of judicial magistrate, Aligarh, issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against BJP MLC Rishipal Singh for allegedly abusing and assaulting a man in Atrauli in 2018.
The court has asked police to produce the MLC on July 7.
An FIR was lodged against Singh and five others including two of his sons on August 12, 2018 under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapon), 452 (house trespass), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) at Atrauli police station, a month after the incident took place on July 11. In its order on December 8, 2021, the court of judicial magistrate had summoned the accused for trial. Singh challenged the judicial magistrate’s order in sessions court but his plea was dismissed as the court found no illegality in the magistrate’s order.
The victim’s grandfather Atul Gupta told TOI that the incident took place after his grandson had asked the accused to remove his motorcycle parked in front of their shop in Atrauli. The accused got agitated and called 8-10 people and then attacked his family members. “We had filed a complaint but no FIR was registered against them,” he said, adding that the FIR was registered over a month after the incident.
