There are times when saying nothing is better than uttering something ridiculous. Case in point, NBC sideline reporter Kathryn Tappen on Saturday’s game between the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs.
Texans WR Tank Dell suffered an apparent left knee injury while making a touchdown catch in the back of the end zone. It was bad — potentially gruesome — as NBC’s booth mentioned multiple times.
At first, a cart was brought out for Dell, but then it was not enough, and an ambulance was on the field. Dell was placed on a stretcher with his leg immobilized in a brace.
Quarterback C.J. Stroud was emotional on the sidelines.
Shortly after, the booth threw to Tappen on the sidelines who ended her update with Dell was officially declared out.
He was taken off the field in an ambulance, and she thought telling everyone he was not returning to the game was informative?
Another example — perhaps the best — of why the sideline reporters, especially coach interviews are beyond superfluous.
