During the 2023-24 season, Steve Kerr was in the final year of his contract with the Golden State Warriors. However, before the final stretch of the regular season, the Warriors reportedly locked up their longtime head coach for the future.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Kerr agreed to a two-year, $35 million contract extension with the Warriors. Kerr’s record-setting contract extension will make him the highest-paid coach in league history at $17.5 million per year.
Since taking over in 2014, Kerr has won 501 regular-season games for the second most wins in Golden State history for a coach. Kerr has won four championships with the Warriors alongside Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
Following reports of Kerr’s extension, the NBA community on Twitter weighed-in with reactions. Here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying on social media on Friday night.

Can confirm that Steve Kerr has agreed to a two-year, $35 million contract extension with the Warriors. ESPN first. It lines Kerr's current contract up with Steph Curry's. Curry has two years and $115.3 million left on his deal. Both contracts run through the 2025-26 season.

With Kerr getting an extension, I can definitely see Kenny Atkinson heading for the best opening this off-season.
Would be an upgrade over Ham in LA, a culture changer for Washington, or if Doc Rivers can’t get them to the ECF; probably the guy for Milwaukee. pic.twitter.com/6Bh2zmsWDg
