With the chance to close out the Sacramento Kings at San Francisco’s Chase Center and advance to the next round of the playoffs, the defending champs struggled.
Sloppy turnovers, ice-cold shooting from deep and quiet performances from key players marred any chance of the Warriors closing out the Kings in Game 6 on Friday night. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson were the only members of the Warriors to score 20 or more points. Andrew Wiggins was the only other player to score in double-figures for Golden State.
While the Warriors struggled to create any momentum, the Kings took advantage.
De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk combined for 54 points on the way to forcing a Game 7 with a win in Game 6 on the road, 118-99.
With a loss in Game 6, the Warriors will have to travel back to Golden 1 Center in Sacramento on Sunday in a win or go home Game 7.
Following the Warriors’ rough performance in Game 6, the NBA community on Twitter exploded with different reactions. Here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying on Friday night.

At Chase Center, knowing a win would provide rest before or during the next round, Warriors respond with their worst game of this first-round series, a 118-99 loss to the Kings

What a win for the Kings. Warriors entered 35-8 at home this season, 18-2 in this building the last 20 games. Kings came in facing elimination and blew them out by 19 points. Ten blocks, eight steals, held the Warriors to 99 points. Leaned small and remained sturdy defensively.

Oh hey. Closing a series of when you’ve stolen home court. Cool idea

Jordan Poole was unplayable but so were many of his teammates. What is Kerr to do? Wiggins was a non factor, Klay was good early then average, Draymond was ordinary, Steph not efficient, and the bench brought nothing. They've got 40 hours to figure it out. I'm down right now.

Four years in the NBA and Jordan Poole still hasn’t learned that the trailer almost always has the easier shot in breakaway transition. This should be an easy coaching fix, and I gotta believe attempts have been made

Kings-Warriors is just the 12th series in NBA history where the home team won the first four games then the road team won Games 5 and 6.
The home team won all 11 prior Game 7s.
