After getting a day off on Saturday, the Golden State Warriors opened a road back-to-back against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Heading into Sunday’s contest in Cleveland, the Warriors carried a five-game win streak, including four straight wins on the road.
However, cold shooting iced the Warriors early-season win streak. For the first time in 16-straight regular-season meetings, the Cavaliers secured a win over the Warriors, 115-104. The Cavs’ last regular-season win over the Warriors came on Christmas Day in 2016.
The Warriors shot 36.2% from the floor and 39% from beyond the arc. Steph Curry led the Warriors with 28 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field with seven made triples to go along with seven triples. No other members of the Warriors scored over 18 points. Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Jonathan Kuminga were the only other members of the Warriors to tally double figure scoring numbers.
Despite their cold shooting, that included a 15-point effort in the second quarter, the Warriors kept the game close against the Cavaliers, cutting their lead to four points in the fourth quarter. Yet, a late run led by Max Strus and Donovan Mitchell delivered a knockout punch to the Warriors.
Before the Warriors catch a flight to Detroit for the second-leg of their back-to-back, here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying about Sunday’s loss in Cleveland.

First dud performance this season from the Warriors. Didn't have it in Cleveland. Pounded in the paint 58-24. Bench didn't make shots. Second straight bad defensive game. It snaps a five-game win streak. They're 5-2. Back-to-back in Detroit tomorrow night.

Thoughts on this game:
-Is Curry on a minutes restriction? Why is he playing 31 minutes on a night the team needed more from him?
-Leaning into smaller lineups is going to make O inconsistent, esp against bigger teams
-TJD being inserted early in Q3 changed everything for the…— Jim Park🏀🌌 (@Sheridanblog) November 6, 2023

I'm sick and tired of Kerr running small to tiny lineups. Completely over it. You just saw TJD come in and positively change the game, and then you play a tiny lineup against a giant lineup to close? Someone help this dude THINK.

Cavs win it 115-104.
Warriors shoot 35.8% from the floor. Steph had 28 on 8-16 (7-11), but not much else went right offensively.
Dubs 5-2 ahead of Pistons tomorrow.

Part the Cavs are pretty good + part schedule loss. Nothing concerning. Just gotta win tomorrow.
