NBA star Draymond Green decked his Golden State Warriors team-mate Jordan Poole with one crunching punch during a heated argument in the middle of a training session, footage has shown.
Green has since apologised for the incident, but now footage has emerged of the incident, which could lead to further punishment from the NBA. In the leaked footage, the five-time NBA champion is seen walking away from Poole but exchanging words with him.
Then, he walks over to Poole, who is stood underneath the basket off the court in the footage, before going face-to-face with him. The footage then shows the pair appearing to exchange words, before things took a turn for the worse.
Green, who is signed to the Warriors for another two years, is seen being pushed away by Poole about the neck area. He then launches himself at his younger team-mate with a viscous punch, landing on Poole's chin.
Poole falls to the floor immediately, with Green appearing to grab him while team-mates and coaches ran over to split the pair up.
The footage, obtained by American outlet TMZ, was released on Friday afternoon, after members of the Warriors coaching and playing staff attempted to play down the situation.
Steph Curry, the reigning NBA Finals MVP, dismissed speculation that the incident occurred due to Poole's demeanour regarding his ongoing contractual situation.
He said: "Draymond is one of my favourite players. I told him that, but I just said, ‘You’re better than this. Don’t do this. Don’t do this to yourself and put yourself in this position.’ Still love the person. Don’t love what he did, but still love the guy.”
Warriors team officials are said to be reviewing the incident, and are yet to issue any punishments related to the skirmish.
