The NBA suspended Warriors forward Draymond Green for five games for his involvement in the team’s altercation with the Timberwolves early into the first quarter of Tuesday’s game.
Green, who corralled Minnesota center Rudy Gobert and put him into a chokehold after a scuffle broke out between Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels, was the only player suspended in the incident. Gobert, Thompson, and McDaniels were each fined $25,000.
The NBA said in its statement that Green’s history played a role in the size of the suspension he’s receiving.
NBA fans on social media had plenty to say after Adrian Wojnarowski’s report broke the news on Wednesday night.
Five regular season games? Lame. He should be suspended for five In-Season Tournament games to really show Golden State this is serious. https://t.co/AD8rzM7pEV

Draymond Green has already received 3 technical fouls, been ejected from 2 games and has now been suspended for the next 5 games.

Probably woulda been 3 if he wasn’t Draymond. Gave him an extra 2 for prior acts. A little surprised Silver went this high tho https://t.co/jfOz2MmyWq
