NBA fans have called for LeBron James to enter the dunk contest over All-Star weekend.
The LA Lakers star returned from a knee injury this weekend to power his side to a comeback victory over the New York Knicks.
During the early stages of the fourth quarter, the basketball legend received a pass from Trevor Ariza and hurtled to the other end of the floor.
He proceeded to produce a spectacular windmill slam dunk which sent the crowd wild, but sadly it did not count as he was fouled on his way to the basket.
Fans on social media also loved James ’ flamboyant move, and called for him to show off his skills in the official dunk contest during the All-Star weekend.
“Get him in the dunk contest”, one viewer demanded on twitter.
While another complained: "Bron not doing the dunk contest ever is a troll job.”
While a third spectator added: “It’s an absolute crime that he wasn’t in at least one dunk contest.”
James is widely regarded as one of the best slam dunkers in the NBA and has often pulled off incredible moves throughout his illustrious career.
Which makes the fact that the four-time NBA champion has never featured in the popular dunk contest all the more surprising.
With this year’s competition due to take place in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, James may not be presented with a better opportunity to feature in the contest.
The American was sidelined for five games and his timely return ensured his side defeated the struggling Knicks 122-115.
James racked up a triple-double of 29 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists to lead his team to victory and recover from the agonising one-point loss to their rivals LA Clippers last time out.
Anthony Davis, who also returned from a long injury layoff recently, scored 28 points, claimed 17 rebounds and made four blocks in the win and has begun to rediscover his best form.
The Lakers, who lost four of their five games without LeBron, could be primed for a late playoff surge and the man himself is delighted to be back on the court with his teammates.
"After the first quarter, the knee loosened up a lot more," James said after notching his 103rd career triple-double.
"My mind loosened up a lot more. And I was just able to play basketball. But just excited to be back in the uniform, back on the floor with my guys.
“Missed them, missed the game. I was happy I was able to make a few plays and help us win a ballgame."
When the Lakers next take to the court in the early hours of Wednesday morning., they are set for a tricky test against the defending champions Milwaukee Bucks.
