The NBA Draft took place on Thursday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, with 58 draft selections graduating from the collegiate ranks to the pros. However, some hopeful prospects didn't hear their namedscalled by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, like no. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama, forcing them to attempt to carve their way into the league by other measures.
Although the selection process has finished, draft hopefuls can still make their way into the NBA through the G-League, and impressing teams throughout the NBA Summer League games that take place before the NBA season in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Here's a look at the top NBA prospects who went undrafted, but still have the chance to carve out a place in the league like Los Angles Lakers breakout playmaker Austin Reaves, Miami Heat veteran Udonis Haslem and many others before them.
Ricky Council IV
From: Arkansas
Position: Shooting Guard
Height: 6-foot-6
Weight: 205 pounds
NBA Destination: Philadelphia 76ers (two-way contract)
Council could be the biggest name on the list who went undrafted. The prolific scoring guard was on the majority of mock draft big boards after averaging 16.1 points on 43 percent shooting from the floor and 3.6 rebounds. The 21-year-old guard became known for his highlight reel finishes at Arkansas, and led the team to upset the no. 1 ranked Kansas Jayhawks during the NCAA Tournament.
Council signed a two-way deal with Sixers organization, which will more than likely see him assigned to the Delaware Blue Coats, the team's G-League affiliated club. There, he'll have the chance to work on his shooting from the three point line, where he struggled to shoot efficiently from in school, and will be a necessary part of his game at the NBA level.
Adama Sanogo
From: UConn
Position: Center
Height: 6-foot-8
Weight: 260 pounds
NBA Destination: Chicago Bulls (two-way contract)
Sanogo is one of the most decorated players to miss being selected on Thursday night. The 21-year-old big man was last season's NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player, while also earning All-Tourney and All-Big East honors, on top of winning the NCAA National Championship.
The center is undersized by NBA measurements as far as his play style goes. He's a bruce force in the low post, and does the bulk of his work around the rim. Sanogo signed a two-way deal with the Chicago Bulls, which will allow him to polish his offensive skillset, as he more than likely won't be able to bang with much larger rim protectors in the league who mostly stand above 7 feet tall.
Adam Flagler
From: Baylor
Position: Point Guard
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 190 pounds
NBA Destination: Oklahoma City Thunder (two-way contract)
Flagler was one of three guards to average at least 15 points per game at Baylor last season. The electric guard averaged 15.6 points on 42.6 percent shooting, 4.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds, while also shooting 40 percent from 3 on 6.3 attempts.
Flagler signed a two way deal with the Thunder, injecting the team with more youth, speed, and agility. The details of his deal were yet to be revealed, but were assumed to be a non-guaranteed deal that will see him get a chance to impress the front office during NBA Summer League, and earn a roster spot.
Terquavion Smith
From: NC State
Position: Point Guard
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 163 pounds
NBA Destination: Philadelphia 76ers (two-way contract)
Smith going undrafted was one of the biggest shocks of the night in the eyes of NBA fans. The former NC State point guard is a high-octane scorer who shoots a an extremely high volume, despite not being the most efficient player with 17.1 points per game on 38.8 percent shooting.
NBA draft analysts suggested that Smith wouldn't get drafted due to being undersized for both the shooting guard and point guard positions. His size raised concern on the defensive size of the ball, as well as having the ability to facilitate and finish around the rim.
Smith signed a two-way deal with the 76ers, creating the possibility to form a backcourt with Council as a member of the Blue Coats.
Mike Miles Jr
From: TCU
Position: Shooting Guard
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 205 pounds
NBA Destination: Dallas Mavericks (two-way contract)
Last year, Miles threw his name into the NBA Draft portal, but later removed it stating that he had unfinished business in college. In an effort to rise his draft stock, Miles returned to college, was and named to the All-Big 12 second team during his sophomore and junior campaigns.
Miles conceded his senior season of collegiate eligibility to once again have a chance to get drafted, but wasn't one of the 58 selections on Thursday. Instead, he joins the Dallas Mavericks on a two-way deal as an undersized guard who is hopeful to make his presence felt during the summer league.
Miles is projected to have a high ceiling regarding his ability to score, but his size was cause for concern with NBA teams who didn't want to risk his inability to within the physicality of the league.
