The Boston Celtics made the trip to FedEx Forum to face the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night, and came away with a hard-fought victory they came quite close to losing against a banged-up Grizzlies squad sans several key frontcourt players.
A tight game throughout, the Celtics pulled away in the fourth quarter as star wings Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum came alive to secure a 109-106 win on the road despite several attempts by Memphis to wrest victory from the jaws of defeat. The game’s final frame was quite the epic nail-biter, and the result sure to fuel an even more intense rematch between the two rising powers when the Griz make the trip to TD Garden in February.
Let’s take a look at what NBA and Celtics Twitter had to say about Boston’s photo finish over Memphis.

Tatum is down after getting fouled by Morant chasing a loose ball. Oh boy. #Celtics #Grizzlies
— gary washburn (@GwashburnGlobe) November 8, 2022
That was one of those "I need to open a new tab and write about this injury" kind of play. I'm glad Tatum appears to be ok.
— Cameron Tabatabaie (@CTabatabaie) November 8, 2022
Grant hadn't taken a shot until those free throws and he knocked them both down. Stones.
— Keith Smith (@KeithSmithNBA) November 8, 2022
Desmond Bane drains a 3 off of an offensive rebound. Tatum is fouled, he’ll head to the line.
107-106, Celtics. 02.2 left
— Josue Pavón (@Joe_Sway) November 8, 2022
Respect to Mazzulla for not calling the timeout there to advance ball to halfcourt. Prefers the chaos and getting the ball in right away against a non-set defense.
— Brian Robb (@BrianTRobb) November 8, 2022
Phew. #CueIt
