After a fairly quiet offseason, the Chicago Bulls look to put last season behind them and qualify for the playoffs — either directly or via the play-in tournament. Chicago’s roster hasn’t undergone much change from last season, as the front office bets on continuity to get the franchise over the hump.
This season, the NBA is introducing the in-season tournament, which Chicago’s coaching staff may view as the ideal way to keep the team focused during the dull part of the calendar. If the Bulls can find a way to taste success in the tournament, it could give them the confidence to make a postseason push.
Chicago has been played into East Group C, in which it will face the Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic. Each game will count toward the Bulls’ regular-season record and their chances of progressing in the tournament itself.
