Navi Mumbai: Retired engineer loses Rs 6.8 lakh to cyber fraud

NAVI MUMBAI: A 69-year-old retired engineer from Kopargaon, Nhava Sheva recently lost Rs 6.77 lakh after a cyberfraudster posing as a representative of a nationalised bank made him download a mobile application by claiming that his debit card has been deactivated.

As per the FIR, the cyberfraudster asked the complainant to share his bank account details, and made him download an app. Later, the victim discovered only Rs 186 out of Rs 6.8lakh left in his account. The next day he filed an FIR with Nhava Sheva police for cheating and under IT act.
