The River Wye has been downgraded by Natural England following declines in important species like Atlantic salmon and white-clawed crayfish.

The Wildlife Trusts have slammed the river’s new ‘unfavourable-declining’ status as “a shocking failure” by agencies in England and Wales “that are supposed to protect this once beautiful river”.
