Many Nationwide customers have received an email telling them they will get £100 next month as part of its new share offer. The UK's biggest building society will hand out the money to customers with savings or current accounts who meet certain criteria, it confirmed on Friday.
Nationwide is owned by its customer members who are supposed to benefit from profits through better saving rates and other perks. And the building society has announced a new Fairer Share scheme which will see £340m distributed to its members in June.
Eligible customers will get £100 each paid into their current accounts and Nationwide has also announced a two-year fixed Nationwide Fairer Share Bond with a 4.75% interest rate. It comes after pre-tax profit soared 38% to £2.2bn in the year to April – up from £1.6bn last year.
