ALAN Cumming has been honoured by MSPs following his third consecutive win at the Emmy Awards.
Cumming won the Emmy for outstanding host for a reality or reality competition programme at the prestigious awards ceremony on Monday, for his work on The Traitors US.
The Perthshire-raised star previously won Emmys for hosting the programme in 2025 and 2024, while this year the show also picked up the award for outstanding reality competition programme.
His achievement has now been recognised by Holyrood, following a motion submitted by Scottish Greens MSP Q Manivannan.
Manivannan met Cumming in Edinburgh in July, with the Traitors star describing the MSP as a "new, hilarious friend and totally as inspirational and divine as you would imagine".
In the motion, Manivannan paid tribute to Cumming's "decades-long contribution to stage and screen, including his Tony-winning work in Cabaret".
The MSP also praised his "role in bringing Scottish talent and stories to international audiences", with Cumming taking over as Pitlochry Festival Theatre's artistic director in 2025.
The motion also "wishes him continued success in his career".
A total of 12 MSPs have supported the motion at the time of writing, from the Scottish Greens, SNP and LibDems.
They are Ross Greer, Cara McKee, Holly Bruce, Laura Moodie and Kate Nevens from the Greens, SNP MSPs Colin Beattie, Dawn Black, Gary Bouse, Stuart McMillan and Collette Stevenson, and LibDem MSPs Alex Cole-Hamilton and Yi-pei Chou Turvey.
Speaking to The National, Manivannan described Cumming as "one of Scotland's most distinctive and celebrated performers".
"Winning this Emmy for the third consecutive year is an extraordinary achievement, showcasing Scotland’s immeasurable talent on the international stage," they said.
Manivannan continued: "Alan’s work and leadership in the Scottish Highlands with the Pitlochry Festival Theatre, and his ability to highlight the best of our local talents makes him a real national treasure.
"From his acclaimed work on stage and screen, to bringing his unmistakably Scottish voice to audiences around the world, Alan has made an enormous contribution to our cultural life here in Scotland, and around the world."
The MSP added: “His success, and the remarkable seven-award sweep for The Traitors, deserves to be recognised and celebrated by the Scottish Parliament.
"I am delighted it has received cross-party support, and shows a great example of what Scotland’s cultural sector can achieve, produce, and in Alan’s case, win!”
