Michael Owen was overheard giving a rather 'awkward' and hilarious order to daughter Gemma as they handed out an accolade at the National Television Awards on Thursday night.
While football icon Michael shot to fame well over two decades ago as a Premier League and England wonderkid, Gemma, still only 19, was propelled to TV fame this summer as she reached the final of Love Island, alongside now boyfriend Luca Bish. Since leaving the villa a few months ago, Gemma has inked a number of big money contracts, as well as now being 'official' with Brighton fishmonger Luca.
The father and daughter duo were among the guest presenters at the National Television Awards, which took place in front of a 12,000 strong crowd in Wembley. Other stars to hand out trophies on the night included Bake Off's Matt Lucas, three of England's Lionesses, Oti Mabuse and Michelle Visage.

Michael and Gemma had the job of handing out the award for Best Serial Drama Performance, and after the nominees had appeared on screen, Gemma went to reveal the winner. But, as she looked at the envelope, Michael mumbled "open it," before she announced Emmerdale's Mark Charnock had won.
It didn't take long for Twitter to react. One viewer posted: "Loving the way Michael Owen had to give Gemma instructions how to open an envelope," with a second tweeting: "michael owen having to give gemma instructions on what to do the entire presenting of this award oh my god."
A third joked: "gotta love Michael Owen giving Gemma instructions like he’s prime Kenny Dalglish."
