A legit MVP candidate, Hurts has passed for 3,472 yards (67.3 completion rate) and 22 touchdowns with five interceptions, adding another 13 touchdowns on the ground, while leading the Eagles to a 13-1 record.
Hurts also leads all NFC quarterbacks in Pro Bowl fan votes.
With Gardner Minshew likely to get the start, here’s the national reaction to Monday’s news.
Patrik C. Walker
The Voice of the Star has some lowdown on how Dallas will approach the rumored injury.
Minshew is capable, true.
Also true: The #Cowboys aren't unfamiliar with him, seeing as they played against him less than 12 months ago. They'll study that film heavily to see his tendencies.

Tim McManus -- ESPN
Hurts took a lick and then dropped a dime to A.J. Brown.
For more perspective, this was the play immediately following Hurts' injury, and he had a deep ball to AJ Brown later.
Missed games would be more about getting strength and functionality in throwing shoulder at 100 percent for postseason, in team's view. pic.twitter.com/biE3ANtl4f

Some are going to argue that it was his normal workload, but with Miles Sanders going almost a half without one carry, who else was going to carry the football?
Discounting @TruMediaSports' categorized kneeldowns and scrambles, Jalen Hurts ran 11 times yesterday, which is a lot but not entirely atypical. pic.twitter.com/eDXaKy2rY5

Jonny Page
A much better player than Carson Wentz, but Hurts is starting to have the same problem deciphering when to slide, throw the football away or just give to Miles Sanders on run options.
Steichen obviously deserve some blame for too many QB hits, but Hurts also has to take some responsibility. He doesn't have to keep it all the time. Yes, they should run some more 'standard' runs but ultimately with Hurts he's going to have an option to keep it a lot.

Do we really want QB1 missing a month of meaningful game action?
The #Eagles need just one more to win to clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
If they can beat the Cowboys on Saturday, Jalen Hurts would not need to play again until the Divisional Round on January 21 or 22.

Football Outsiders know, in Gardner we trust.
I trust that Gardner Minshew can beat either the Saints or the Giants at home. https://t.co/YlH0iTIv65

Ed Werder
If head coach Nick Sirianni wasn’t 22-10, he might be facing more heat for this stat.
Jalen Hurts has taken a lot of hits this year. @ESPNStatsInfo: He's been contacted 184 times, 3rd-most of any QB this season. That includes 129 times on running plays, most of any QB.

Cody J. Benjamin
Two weeks is the maximum time he should be out and an MVP candidate looking for a monster contract extension will not be sitting out a month.
Orthopedic source on #Eagles QB Jalen Hurts' injury: if it's a shoulder sprain, 10-14 days of rest would likely be recommended, but it's mostly a matter of pain tolerance. The risk of playing early is just prolonging full healing. Knowing Hurts, a one-game absence may be the max.
