Nathan Patterson Everton 'never again' message as ex-Rangers kid reflects on 'up and down' season

Nathan Patterson admits his first Everton season has been full of ups and downs as he admitted to NEVER wanting to experience a final day survival fight ever again.

The Toffees headed into the final game of the season just two points clear of the bottom three with their English Premier League destiny in their own hands. It was a nervy afternoon at Goodison Park with Leicester City and Leeds United still in the hunt to stay up.

Sam Allardyce and Co ended up out of the battle early on as Tottenham turned on the heat at Elland Road but after the Foxes fired themselves ahead against West Ham it put the pressure on Sean Dyche's men to win in front of a nervy home crowd.

It only took one goal and it was a spectacular effort from Abdoulaye Doucoure just before the hour mark to send the home fans wild.

They held on to secure their top flight status for another season with a one goal win over Bournemouth and with that relegate both Leicester City and Leeds.

Former Rangers kid Patterson was ruled out for the game injured with time telling whether he will be part of Steve Clarke's Scotland set-up for the crucial Euro 2024 double-header with Norway and Georgia - but after his side secured their place in the league for next season he took to social media to sum up his campaign, and send a rally cry.

He wrote: "First proper season in the Prem comes to an end. Plenty ups and downs but never want to go through a day like today again. Kick on next season. Enjoy your summer Blues. UTFT"
