Nate Diaz determined to "get the f*** out of the UFC" amid contract row

Nate Diaz is determined to "get the f*** out of the UFC" as he continues to demand to be released from the promotion.

The American star has not fought in the octagon since his defeat by Leon Edwards last June. He verbally agreed to face Dustin Poirier in the final fight of his current contract but the bout failed to materialise, leaving him without a suitable opponent.

Diaz has now hit out at the promotion for their handling of the situation, tweeting: "It’s s*** like this why I need to get the f*** out of the sorry a** UFC. Didn’t you guys suspend Nick [Diaz] for five years and fine me loads of money for a vape pen?! Now you’re reaping the benefits. I hope nobody buys this bull****."

The 37-year-old was responding to a tweet in which the UFC announced they will be selling NFT packs with the Diaz brothers' cards available for the first 2500 customers. This prompted an angry response from Diaz who has continued to openly state his plans to be released from his contract.

With a lack of options on the table, Diaz is yet to explore any option over a new deal with the promotion and is unlikely to return to the octagon. UFC president Dana White continuously stated that he expected Diaz to return for a trilogy bout with Conor McGregor before making an exit.

He also stated that a fresh proposal would be made to the welterweight star with the end of his contract looming. With a trilogy against McGregor the likely option on the table, Diaz is facing an uncertain future with his final fight now in jeopardy.

Diaz's close friend Yancy Medeiros has admitted Diaz would prefer to be released from the organisation that seek a third meeting with the Irishman. "I think Nate is just popping off to make trouble," Medeiros explained of Diaz's tweet calling for his UFC release. "I think the UFC have got to make him an offer he can't refuse or else he's going to fight out his contract.

"How come he's telling UFC he'll fight Dustin and Dustin said he'll fight him but they're not making it happen? It's a great fight that would do views, but it's got to be more. Nate wants to fight his contract out because he wants to be a free agent. Why won't they let him fight the contract out? You can connect the dots and cross the 't's, dot the 'i's."

Diaz has frequently been offered a lucrative boxing fight with YouTube star Jake Paul. The 25-year-old believes that he can defeat the UFC star who is yet to entertain talks of any crossover bout.

Paul believes however that before he faces Diaz, the star will re-enter the octagon and has stated he deserves a payout of around $20 million. "Nate Diaz should be guaranteed $20m per fight or 20 per cent of the revenue of the event for fighting any of Dustin, Conor or Jorge [Masvidal]. That’s 20 per cent of all revenues (not just PPV). Pretty simple math. If you dispute this then you don’t know s*** about the fight business."
