Nashik history-sheeter rides bike to Mumbai to prey on senior citizens at ATMs

MUMBAI: Days after a history-sheeter from Nashik was released from jail for duping a senior citizen outside an ATM kiosk by swapping his card with an inactive one, he decided to target victims in Mumbai every fortnight but got caught.

Saki Naka police arrested Varinder Kaushal (42) two weeks after he rode on his bike to Mumbai, hoodwinked a retired government official and used his card to withdraw Rs 35,000 and buy gold ornaments worth Rs 74,730. "Kaushal, who runs a small eatery in Nashik, reached Saki Naka on August 30 at 4.30pm. After duping the victim, he returned to Nashik at 1.30am," said a police officer.
