NASHIK: After the finalisation of electoral rolls, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) started the process of finalising the polling booths for the upcoming civic elections.
NMC officials said in the forthcoming civic polls, there will be one polling booth for around 900 voters.
There are over 12 lakh voters, who will be exercising their right to vote in the civic election. In the last civic polls in 2017, one polling booth was meant for around 800 voters.
The officials said while in the last election, the total number of booths was around 1,342, this time there will be 1,333 booths.
During the last civic polls, there was a four-member ward system and each voter had to cast four votes and took time to cast all four votes. Hence, there were only 800 voters per booth.
But this time, there will be a three-member ward system and each voter will have to cast only three votes. Hence, considering the time required for each voter, it has been decided to have 900 voters for each polling booth.
