Nancy Guthrie Case: FBI Hair Sample Story Is Six Months Old, and Investigators Later Found No DNA Profile

Until detectives name a suspect, labs cannot match the single strand from Nancy Guthrie's home to anyone, the sheriff has said (Credit: FBI Laboratory, public domain)

On 10 October, Geo.tv presented the hair testing as a new development, even though ABC News reported that the sample was transferred to the FBI on 16 April and the test results became public on 30 July. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said the hair yielded no usable DNA profile.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, is the mother of Savannah Guthrie, a Today co-host. Someone took Nancy Guthrie from her home in the Catalina Foothills, near Tucson, Arizona, against her will on 1 February, the FBI says. More than eight months on, authorities have not publicly named a suspect.
