A nan was held by a stranger in Primark after bursting into tears following a heartbreaking phone call.
Susie Moon was spending the day shopping at the store in Birkenhead, Merseyside, at 11am on Saturday, June 18. But when she reached the front of the busy queue her phone rang and she instantly knew it was going to be bad news.
She had received a call from a nursing home that told her that her mother-in-law, Lillian Riley, had died following a two-year battle with dementia. Susie, who lives in Bebington, Wirral, told the Liverpool Echo: "I was in pieces and burst into tears. I was bewildered and uncomfortable because I was in the middle of Primark and there was a massive queue behind me.”
A kind-hearted stranger saw Susie sobbing and wrapped her arms around her without asking what was wrong. She also gave her a tissue to dry her eyes and tried to comfort her.
“It meant everything to me. This lady could see that I didn’t know what to do and I couldn’t shop anymore," Susie added. “I’m desperate to find this lady to thank her for her empathy and kindness. She was just so kind and it meant a lot to me that she was there for me.”
Due to the heavy emotions she felt at the moment, Susie found it difficult to recall what the stranger looked like but she hopes word will spread far enough to find them so she can repay the kindness with some flowers.
