‘Nah I need the keys to the ship at that point’: Carnival Cruise passengers witness something traumatizing on board. So Carnival gives them free dessert

A Carnival Cruise passenger was shocked to accidentally see a dead body on the ship one day. But that wasn’t the only weird incident to happen during their stay at sea. They also got stuck in an elevator, something that confused and traumatized the passenger further.

The worst part? Carnival Cruise proceeded to provide them a complimentary dessert plate—with a few mini pastries and strawberries on it—for their troubles, something that made TikToker @someonetookallthegoodone want to post about the experience.

Since then, the video’s gotten over 375,000 views, with many wondering why Carnival Cruise has meager offerings for severe, traumatizing incidents on board.

What happened on the Carnival Cruise ship?

On two separate days, two different incidents occurred to @someonetookallthegoodone while traveling on a Carnival cruise. The creator alleges that they saw a real, actual body onboard the ship. They also said they got stuck inside an elevator for an unspecified amount of time.

They told their audience, “[These were] two separate incidents on the same cruise. We saw but didn’t find the body. [We were] told it was a drill and that there was an announcement [for it], but when we asked around no announcement was made (allegedly). Honestly, this is probably not the weirdest experience I’ve had on a cruise.”

It’s unclear whether or not they got stuck in the elevator before or after seeing the body, but  @someonetookallthegoodone clearly spoke to guest services after both events occurred.

According to their testimony, Carnival Cruise staff were “supposed” to speak with them in person about the elevator incident, but they didn’t. Instead, they left the dessert plate, with fruits and sweets, at their door. Additionally, they supplied an extension number for further assistance.

The note left at @someonetookallthegoodone’s door read, “We apologize to hear about your experience in the elevator. Please accept this as a little gesture with compliments from the guest services. Kindly contact the Guest Services for further assistance at extension 777.”

Viewers are confused

The lack of detail and information in @someonetookallthegoodone’s post left many viewers a bit confused.

“I read this as seeing a dead body get stuck in an elevator,” said one viewer.

Many viewers also thought that Guest Services offered compensation because @someonetookallthegoodone saw a dead body and got stuck in an elevator, with both stories adding to one another. The original TikTok video is framed that way.

But, it doesn’t appear as though Carnival Cruise sent the dessert plate because @someonetookallthegoodone saw a dead body. If the company’s story about the drill is real, it means that the other incident was a simple mishap. It wouldn’t have necessitated compensation.

Regardless, there’s no mention of the “dead body incident” on the card, so Carnival Cruise may have missed an opportunity to fully compensate the TikToker for the multitude of encounters they ran into while on the ship. It’s possible the ship only knew about the elevator situation. The creator’s comments do not refer to Carnival Cruise reacting in any specific way to their concerns, other than saying it was “a drill.”
