NAGPUR: Celebrity chef Vishnu Manohar aims to revive the little-known but rich culinary culture of the transgender community through a unique cooking competition for them spread across six cities of Maharashtra starting from June 6 in Pune and concluding in the city on June 15.
Manohar, who has also played a transgender character in a film, wants food connoisseurs to explore the hidden skills of the community in dishing out delicacies “which once occupied a place of pride in the vibrant gastronomy culture of the sub-continent”. “The kings preferred to make transgender members in-charge of their kitchen and queen’s security. Transgender people were known for their unique cooking style and skill,” said Manohar.
Manohar’s ‘Vishnuji Ki Rasoi’ will be the venue for the grand finale in Nagpur in which two finalists would compete for the title.
