NAGPUR: The Dhantoli police on Wednesday reportedly detained son of a political neta in the city in connection with gunfire at Vivekananda Nagar. Police has identified the accused as Yash Sharma, a resident of Manish Nagar, who was detained following a complaint filed by one Anand Thakur.
Nobody was hurt in the firing.
Meanwhile, senior police inspector Mahesh Chavan and inspector Madavi of Dhantoli police station were attached to the police control room following charges of withholding information about the incident which took place three days ago (on June 26), confirmed commissioner of police Amitesh Kumar.
According to police sources, Yash Sharma, runs a career guidance centre from his apartment in Vivekananda Nagar. On Sunday night, Anand Thakur, his friend Prince and others went to Sharma’s office where an argument took place over some issue.
Thakur's accomplice was allegedly seen carrying a weapon in the parking lot of the apartment. Meanwhile, Thakur and Prince came out of the office. Sharma allegedly fired a shot in the air.
Thakur and his accomplices went to Dhantoli police station to lodge a complaint. Sharma too reached there. Dhantoli police scanned the CCTV footages at the spot but did not find any signs of gunfire.
Police filed cases against both the parties. Meanwhile, the CP came to know about the incident on Wednesday. He has directed an inquiry into the matter. After that, senior police along with DCP Pakhale reached Dhantoli police station. Senior officials have launched an investigation.
