Naby Keita has returned to his homeland of Guinea before pre-season kicks-off at Liverpool - and has been spotted wearing the new Reds kit while playing a game of football.
The Liverpool number eight is the captain of his national team and is a huge icon in Guinea for what he has achieved in football so far. Keita arrived at Anfield in the summer of 2018 from RB Leipzig in a deal worth around £54million and, while he has struggled to cement his place in Jurgen Klopp's midfield, he is coming off the back of a strong season, And, with just a year remaining on his contract, the Reds' hierarchy are said to be keen on securing his future.
But for now the 27-year-old has been enjoying time back in the place where he grew up. And he gave his supporters something they will never forget as he played in a local match in his hometown stadium. Keita, wearing the number 70, also showed off Liverpool's new Nike home strip for the forthcoming 2022-23 campaign.
With Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara both the wrong side of 30, this season could be the moment Keita cements himself into the Liverpool midfield three.
It is well known Liverpool are in search of a new midfielder and have their sights set on Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, who has a £100million price tag on his head, but any deal will not take place until next summer at the earliest.
