N-Dubz star Dappy had his trousers pulled down by a rowdy audience member while performing in Wales – and he responded by slapping him.
The rapper, 39, was playing a show at Casa Nova in Merthyr Tydfil, on Sunday (30 August), when a man standing behind him yanked down his tracksuit bottoms.
In a video obtained by The Sun, the reveller can be seen pulling faces behind Dappy as he performs, before attempting to expose the music star, who immediately turns around, hoists his trousers back up and slaps the reveller, whom he branded a “f***ing idiot”.
The clubgoer was dragged away by bouncers, with an onlooker claiming he was ejected from the venue. The Independent has contacted Dappy and Casa Nova for comment.
The day before, Dappy himself was hit by a fan while performing at Bunker in Hampshire.
“Who the f*** slapped me!” he exclaimed in footage from the event, adding: “Don’t make me conk the mic on you. Don’t do that again, bro!” The Independent has contacted Dappy and Bunker for comment.
Dappy – real name Costadinos Contostavlos – has been a member of hip-hop trio N-Dubz since 2000, alongside fellow members, cousin Tulisa and Fazer. At the height of the band’s fame, which saw them score a No 1 hit with the fittingly titled “Number 1”, he was known for wearing woollen hats with earflaps.
The band took a break in 2011, and all three members embarked upon solo careers, with Dappy re-recording N-Dubz song "No Regrets", which went to No 1.
N-Dubz reformed in 2022, and their comeback UK arena tour sold out within minutes. They released their fourth studio album the following year.
Speaking about the band’s fame, Dappy told The Independent in 2023: “It’s quite mentally challenging to be famous from a young, young age and get to your thirties and still be going.”
He added that touring relentlessly “changes you”, stating: “The human body, in my opinion, is not designed to go through this: make music, and then go out night after night to hundreds of thousands of people, and you get paid for it… in high quantity.”
