Myles Garrett has second-best DPOY odds despite getting held

Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett remains in the running for NFL Defensive Player of the Year after another stellar Week 14 game.

He has the second-best odds to win the award at +200, slightly below Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parson and slightly above Pittsburgh Steelers’ pass rusher T.J. Watt, per BetMGM.

Garrett added to his impressive season with three quarterback hits, seven pressures a 92.1 pass rush grade, per Pro Football Focus. He has 13 sacks, 26 quarterback hits and four forced fumbles on the year.

Despite his impressive numbers, Garrett isn’t happy with what he’s seen on the field by the officials. He specifically called out the referees following the Browns’ 31-27 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14.

Garrett command a sizable presence from opposing linemen, and he’s been able to produce his numbers well over expectation relative to his assignments, per PFF.

With four games left, Garrett will need to continue to add to his sack totals to win the award. It’s certainly a possibility, but one that might be a bit difficult if he continues to – in his eyes, anyway – not get the right calls from the officials.
