Chelsea's optimism that the £88million paid for Mykhailo Mudryk is money well-spent would have taken a major boost this weekend after seeing the winger in action for the first time. The 22-year-old came on in the second half for Graham Potter's men and injected a flurry of much-needed energy into the Premier League contest with Liverpool.
Mudryk could have marked his debut for the Blues with a goal after brilliantly beating James Milner and Joe Gomez in the penalty area before firing into the side-netting. He also squandered a chance at the back post with a touch of a player who had not played since November.
The £88million signing has received plenty of plaudits for his first appearance for the west Londoners, with Steven Gerrard making comparisons to former Chelsea winger Arjen Robben. His arrival at Stamford Bridge will provide a much welcomed boost for Potter after a torrid run of results since the return of domestic football.

Prior to his move to England, Mudryk became renowned for his social media tendencies with a number of hints of his desire to join Mikel Arteta's Arsenal side. The Ukraine international liked various posts linking him with a move to the Premier League whilst posting a story of him watching the Gunners in action versus West Ham.
And after today's stalemate at Anfield, he's at it again with a sly jibe at Arsenal. A Chelsea fanpage on Instagram (chelsea.fc.awaysdays) posted a clip of a chant dedicated to Mudryk belted out from the away end in Merseyside.
The lyrics of the chant, that takes aim at Arsenal's failure to win the Champions League, read: "He flew in from Ukraine, on Boehly's private plane, Mudryk said to me: 'Have Arsenal won the Champions League?'. So I told him no, you know the place to go, then he said to me, I want to lift number three."
Mudryk is clearly a fan of his new anthem, re-sharing the clip on his personal Instagram story, with blue hearts and a smiling emoji. His admiration of the chant adds further tension between the player and the Gunners, whom he was close to joining and had seemed intent on joining, prior to their meeting at the Emirates Stadium in April.
