'My thumb cramps turned out to be a terminal illness and I may have six months to live'

A mother’s thumb cramps turned out to be an incurable disease that may have left her with just months to live.

Alisa Maclom-Hutton first knew something was up when she began cramping in her thumbs and suddenly struggled to do her daughter’s hair.

By the time she was eventually diagnosed with motor neurone disease back in 2013, she could no longer use her arm, and had been forced to quit her job, Manchester Evening News reported .
