'My son doesn't have a bedtime - he stays up until 12pm and wakes at 3am'

A mum has revealed her unique method of getting her kid to nod off which involves leaving the decision entirely up to him.

Taking to TikTok, Alice, who can be found on the platform under the username @alicellanispam, shared how her and her husband, Caleb, are trying a method called intuitive sleep.

This is a process which allows your child to make the decision on when they go to sleep more independently so they can start to figure out for themselves when they are ready.

Her video explaining this method has since racked up over 8,000 likes with many praising the technique.

But the mum admitted that the method has left the three of them in her household with some very odd hours for sleep.

In the clip, she shares what times everybody in her house gets to sleep and it makes for pretty wild reading.

She said: "We do intuitive sleep so we all go to bed when we feel like it. I sleep at 9pm-11pm.

"Caleb and Fern sleep 12am-3am."

In a separate clip, Alice explained her method further and said she will ask her toddler if he is ready for sleep, and if he says no she respects that.

Many people have flooded the comments of the clip to share their support for her non-traditional parenting style.

One person wrote: "I love thisssss it’d be so awesome to do it. I’m glad you’re able to."

While another added: "So early, love you Alice."

A third penned: "You're my favourite TikTok mum."

The NHS recommends that after their first birthday, your tots should be getting from 12 to 15 hours of sleep a night. And while this can be different in a lot of kids it can also be beneficial to establish a routine for sleep so their bodies can get used to a routine.
