We likely all have ex-partners that we'd rather not talk about thanks to the awful ways we'd been treated by them. We may joke about them with our pals, but their actions may have impacted the way we behave today.
And your current partner's ex is usually off limits in terms of conversation, because you want to look to the future with them, not the past.
But one woman's ex-boyfriend pulled the ultimate betrayal on both her and his wife after he behaved like a "scumbag" and asked her to be a bridesmaid at his wedding - without even confirming it was ok with the bride, or telling her she'd be there.
The woman's dilemma was discussed on the podcast Girls Overheard, where it was explained that the woman hadn't been with the man for 15 years.
The woman's drama-filled dilemma was read out, and it said: "I'm now married with two kids and I've been with my husband for nearly 10 years.
"My ex, let's call him Johnny, and I, haven't spoken since we split when I was 17 and him 22. We were together for five years, a big age gap, which says a lot about him looking back.
"He started seeing an old friend that I had from college, let's call her Betty, that he had never met, but followed her on Facebook and asked her if she was friends with me, and they started dating, meeting Betty outside the college and asking me to join them for food. Three's a crowd, but that's just creepy.
"Johnny got my number from a mutual friend and phoned me two years ago, asking me 'Will you be Betty's bridesmaid?'
"Surprised he even had my number I said 'no' to which he replied 'I always wanted to see you walk down the aisle to me'.
"I hung up the phone, and after multiple failed attempts to contact me, I changed my number.
"I eventually told Betty, and as far as I know, the wedding still went ahead and they are still together. Poor girl, he's a scumbag."
In the comments of the TikTok video which explained the dilemma, people were horrified.
One wrote: "He's definitely been egged on to do it by one of his mates."
Others discussed the age gap, with someone writing: "The math", followed by a straight-faced emoji.
"Can you just be the bridesmaid, wear white and invite your whole family", someone joked.
