My New Addiction: How I Got Myself Fixed On A Different Kind Of Fizz This Summer

My New Addiction: How I Got Myself Fixed On A Different Kind Of Fizz This Summer

This may seem like a lowball New Year’s resolution, but over the past few years, I’ve somehow managed to condition myself to need a fizzy drink in hand as soon as I rock up to work.

I’m not saying soft drinks are inherently bad, but let me tell you this: you know you have a big, sugary problem when it’s 10 am, and you’re already reaching for your first soda.

It’s like my mum always says, everything is good in moderation. But this? I think this is what no adult supervision did for me (I am but a teen in my mid-twenties).

So, aspiring to live up to the mental fortitude of TikTok’s ‘no fizzy drinks’ guy (we love you, king), I set out to find myself an alternative to cure my carbonated itch, and I’m bringing you along for the ride!

Taking inspiration from Homer Simpson’s dietician, who famously coined her “eat a bell pepper” technique, I attempted to curb my sugary craving with healthy habits as an alternative.

Whenever I longed for a sip of that carbonated syrup, I’d get up and go for a walk. If I’d crave a bubbly pick-me-up, I’d simply distract myself with a good book. I even tried eating an actual bell pepper, but that got expensive real quick (thanks a lot, cozzy liv).

But no matter how many walks I went on, attempts I made to be interested in reading or dollars I forked out to buy fresh produce, nothing could quench my thirst for those darned delicious soft drinks. And to be honest, the cold turkey was starting to take the opposite effect, because I ended up downright miserable!

After barely making it a week, it was evident that it was time for a new approach.

I decided to test out some generic ‘no sugar’ soft drink alternatives. Do you know how many no-sugar alternatives are out there? ‘Cos I do, and between you and me, they’re all a soulless vessel of their sugary predecessor.
Luckily, I stumbled across a pop-up for this drink, Sodaly and fellas, the game was changed.

My first sip was something I can only liken to that of the food critic scene in Ratatouille. I was joyfully transported right back to my youth when I used to enjoy my fizzy drinks without a care in the world.

It was carbonated, full-bodied, and I couldn’t believe it, good for you, too.

Ever since switching to Sodaly, my painful cravings for a sugary drink have been replaced with a much healthier addiction, and I literally wouldn’t have it any other way.

Sodaly has successfully reimagined the best flavours from our childhood into guilt-free sodas, allowing you to get shizz faced on a fizzy drink, minus the regret. I’ve even started to get creative and experiment with mixing the flavours (and making them mixers too, if you catch my drift). My fave combo is the guava with a dash of yuzu, which gives you a perfectly refreshing fizz for the hot weather — you can thank me later for that one.

If you, too, are looking to switch over to the good shizz, maybe it’s time to jump on a guilt-free fizz fix like Sodaly.

With this many benefits behind the bubbly, it’s a no-brainer that people are making the switch. After all, not all addictions are bad ones, and in light of the hot Aussie summer, this is one we can all get behind.
