'My neighbour hates my kids playing outside – she even used a hosepipe on them'

Not everyone is lucky when it comes to having neighbours, and some can make your life pretty difficult.

Maybe they are so noisy that you can't hear yourself think, or they always complain about things you do – leaving you with nowhere to turn.

This was the case for one mum whose neighbour hates kids and has even used a hosepipe on her boys to stop them making noise – though she claims she was just watering the plants.

Venting about the nightmare neighbour on Mumsnet, the woman said she feels anxious every time they are in their own garden as they know the neighbour is watching over them.

The woman, who remained anonymous, wrote: "Next door to us is a neighbour who doesn't like children. We live in an area for families.

"My children love to be outside when it's nice, and laugh and play and talk and occasionally can be loud for a few seconds. My neighbour cannot stand any noise they make, or any sound."

She added that her sons are never outside too early or too late and they rarely even use the garden anyway because of the neighbour's watchful eyes.

"But she watches my boys when we are out, has in the past used a hosepipe on us but said she was watering her plants, but boasted about doing it, moans about our paddling pool, trampoline and our loud guinea pigs," wrote the mum.

"I now feel so anxious about being outside at all when she is there, but they are really not loud at all, they are just being children. What else can I do?

"When we are outside, she turns her music up really loud so we can't even speak to each other to drown out any noise we make."

In response, many flooded the comments with their advice for the frustrated mum.

One person wrote: "Ignore her. If she tries to moan at you - walk away."

While another joked: "Amplify the guinea pigs."

A third penned: "I might decide my fence needed regular watering."

"If she's playing her music very loud outdoors, report her to your local council," somebody else noted.
