My last World Cup, need to be in a good space: Ashwin

GUWAHATI: Pleasantly surprised to get a last-minute call-up to the squad, Ravichandran Ashwin said on Saturday that this could well be his last World Cup.

Asked if he thought, even a few months back, that he would be playing in this home World Cup, the veteran off-spinner said to the official broadcaster, "I would have said that you were joking. Honestly I did not think I would be here. Circumstances have made sure I am here today, the team management has shown trust."

About trying any new variations he has developed, the offie said, "All you can do is turn the ball both ways, and I think I can do it. Dealing with pressure is paramount in these tournaments and it will dictate how the tournament goes. Being in a good space, enjoying this tournament will keep me in good stead. This could be my last World Cup for India, so enjoying the tournament is of utmost importance."
