While most of the Amazon Prime Day deals try to get you to buy some new piece of plastic or a silly gadget that you don't need, here's one that's worth it: you can now rent one of the best movies of 2024 for $5.99.
This movie is Challengers, and you may well have already seen trailers, posters or social media buzz for it: it's about two professional tennis players and friends who find their love of the game pushes them apart, as they compete for the affections of another expert player.
It's a really gripping drama as you see these friends over many years, as they juggle their love for the game and their respect for each other, and it has some really interestingly-shot tennis matches too. You'll like it even if you're not a tennis fan, though it may tempt you to pick up a racquet!
Challengers came out in April of this year and, like most blockbuster movies, eventually landed online for you to rent or stream. It's generally cost just shy of $20 to rent it to watch, but thanks to Prime Day, Prime Video subscribers can now catch it for just $5.99.
Challengers isn't the only 2024 movie that you can rent for $5.99 right now though, with a few more big picks all reduced from various rental prices to $6. Some of these are also to buy digitally for a reduced price too, depending on which edition you're purchasing (and in which definition).
To rent any of these, including Challengers, you need to be an Amazon Prime subscriber. If you've never tried Amazon's subscription service before, there's a 30-day free trial.
First up is the big action blockbuster Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the monster movie which follows up Godzilla vs Kong. This latest installment of the Monsterverse is about a race of underground species that attack Earth and Godzilla and Kong must team up to stop them. You can find Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire on Prime Video here.
Another blockbuster to rent is Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the next film in the rebooted Ghostbusters franchise. It features all the classic actors again as a great big freeze wrecks New York City, and it's the fault of a ghost. You can find Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire on Prime Video here.
The final one I'll list is the latest animated comedy movie to hit theaters, Kung Fu Panda 4, which returns the Jack Black-voiced black-and-white mammal for another adventure. You can find Kung Fu Panda 4 on Prime Video here.
If you look around the Prime Video storefront, you'll see a few more recent movies that also have the same reduction, so if you don't want to see those picks, you can hunt around for something else to see.
